UP MED WEBINARS is the University of the Philippines College of Medicine’s (UPCM) online learning sessions that is open to all physicians not only in the Philippines but the world. It was started in 2015, as an initiative and legacy, of then Silver Jubilarian UPCM Class of 1990 to feature prominent UPCM alumni both here in the Philippines and abroad. What initially started out as a monthly online learning session has grown to holding webinars more frequently, sometimes as often as three times a week. It allows participants to learn without leaving their home or workplace, listening on the computer, the mobile phone, or in group viewing sites. Most webinars have Philippine Medical Association Continuing Medical Education Units as well as Professional Regulatory Commission’s Continuing Professional Development Units in Medicine. Topics that are taken up are common or emerging medical problems which have a significant impact, including bioethics, as well as other public health issues. It is usually held around 12 nn – 1pm Manila Time (GMT+8). An expert gives a lecture for around 25 minutes, followed by a 15-minute reaction by a UPCM alumni equally prominent in the same or related field. There is enough time for question and answer portion with a moderator. The session currently runs on gotowebinar and may also be viewed at livestream.edu.ph as well as via facebook live at http://facebook.com/upmedwebinars. Questions can be sent using the webinar platform’s chatbox, tweeted using the hashtag #upmedwebinars, or tweeting @upmedwebinars. The more recent webinars are also now viewable through links posted on this site. Soon, previous webinars will also be made available for viewing at your own pace. Upcoming webinar announcement are on this page and on our facebook page.
