F. B. Herrera Jr. Medical Library is PAASCU Accredited.

The Medical Library being academic, aims to provide and meet the various needs of its users namely: students, faculty, researchers and non-teaching staff with services constantly coordinated with the University Library and other UP Manila College Libraries.

The F. B. Herrera Jr. Medical Library is a center for study of medical and clinical sciences, and its collections are particularly strong in the subjects of basic and clinical biomedical subjects such as: Anatomy, Biochemistry, Family Medicine, Medicine, Molecular Biology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Otorhinolaryngology, Pathology, Pediatrics, Pharmacology, Physiology, Psychiatry, Radiology, Rehabilitation Medicine, Surgery, etc. To date, we continuously develop and maintain a total collection of more than 65,000+ volumes of books, journals, special collections such as archival/memorabilia and audio-visual materials. Subscription to various medical databases and other resources in the field of health sciences such as UpToDate, Clinical Key flex etc.to name a few are also growing. Electronic resources subscribed by UP Manila are also available for access using the UP Manila network and or remotely available through the use of Virtual Private Network (VPN) or login details provided by the College Library where it was subscribed. You canhaveaccess to collection of books (including latestacquisitions), serials, documents and electronic resources by clicking these hyperlinks: UP Manila Online Catalog | Electronic Resources.The Medical Library is now temporarily located at 2/F Salcedo Hall, Department of Physiology, College of Medicine with Reserved, Filipiniana collection (books / local journals) and eight (8) computers from the EMERALDS ‘71 room available to use.

In line with Chancellor Carmencita D. Padilla’s vision to modernize the University Library as she recognized it as the heart of the university, the F.B. Herrera Jr. Medical Library will be having a new space in the upcoming University Library building which is scheduled for construction in 2018 or in early 2019. It will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that provide space for individual and group study that promotes active learning, creation of new ideas, quiet reflection and more importantly, collaborative work.

This web site introduces the basic activities and gateway to information, providing access to library catalogs, periodical indexes and abstracts, electronic journals and books, reference materials, and many more web-based resources. Users can find helpful information for the University’s system of libraries, including links to the home pages for the Main Libraries and each of the branch libraries, as well as links to Libraries-wide services. 

MISSION

The library, being academic, aims to provide and meet the various needs of the four categories of its users namely: students, faculty, researchers and non-teaching staff. It also coordinates with the University Library and other Administrative Services of Unit Libraries.
